COURTSIDE: BUILDING BRITISH BASKETBALL

UK Basketball has long been a sport of potential, but that potential is yet to be realised. Despite this, it is still an undeniable force at recreational level, in fact “Between 2018 and 2019, more than 1.3 million people in England played it at least once a week.” (Ehantharajah, 2021). However, those numbers have not translated into the professional game.

My short documentary series 'Courtside: Building British Basketball' dives into the nuances and intricacies of one of Britains most under-valued sports at a professional level.

Big attendances, high grassroots participation, and a growing domestic league. These are all factors that should make for a great product, but it is faltering, and we need to know why.
